| Puerto Vallarta was called originally XIUTLA, before the Spanish conquest, later Bahia de los Jorobados (Hunchback Bay), Bahia de Banderas (Flag Bay), Puerto Las Peñas (Las Peñas port) and after 1918, Puerto Vallarta. Puerto Vallarta is discovered and starts to be famous in 1963, when John Huston came and discovered all the natural wonders and vegetation that Puerto Vallarta has to offer. He filmed the movie "Night of the Iguana" with Richard Burton and Ava Gardner. Elizabeth Taylor went to watch the shooting of the movie and started a romance with Richard Burton. |
