Thank you again for a great tour in Mazatlan. It was a very enjoyable and informative day. I am attaching the photo you took of Leessa and me, which is one of our favorite photos of the trip. You did a good job handling my Nikon. Greg March 27, 2010 Silver Spirit |
Oct 13, 2009 Hola Frank, A hearty thanks for your wonderful tour. Without a doubt you made our visit to Mazatlan the best stop on the cruise! There is little that I can add to all the comments made by all your other quests that would express how helpful, informative, relaxing and truly enjoyable it is to tour with you. We knew little about Mazatlan, where to go or what to do but our family believes we've seen enough of the city to plan a vacation for next year and spend all our time in that beautiful place. Thank you again, and give our love to your beautiful wife and children. Kindest regards, Mike and Sally from Arizona

Hola Frank- Thanks for the note. We certainly did enjoy our trip with you and our friends that you took on Thursday did too!!! It was real interesting going out of the city and getting some aquainted with some of the area. We have your card and email , so will pass it on to any friends that are going to Mazatlan. Adios, Betty and Ab
Frank, Home again in Arizona and back to work. I just thought I would drop you a line and let you know that we had a great time on the tour to Copala. When I get the photos developed I'll send some to you. Let me know how to get to your web page. Thanks again Ed & Shari
Hola Frank! Muchas Gracias for your help in getting us around Mazatlan. The Trolley worked out very well for both the Rehersal Dinner at the El Cid (we moved it) and the wedding at the Cathedral. The boys who drove the trolley (although they couldn't speak very much English and you already know the extent of my Spanish) were very considerate and promptly on time. Hopefully, some day I will return and be able to look you up again amigo. ted
Hi Frank, We had a great time on the Pacifico tour. As for my kids, it was their first time visiting Mexico so it was all very exciting for them. I’d like to keep your name in my contacts list so if we come back to Mazatlan we can look you up. We have never stayed in Mazatlan, only visited by cruise ship – so it would be great to have a contact like you if we decide to spend a few days there. Thanks again!! Linda
Frank, I just wanted to thank you for being our Tour Guide July 7, 2004, to the Pacifico Brewery. I felt old enough to everyone's grandmother, but I had a ball. Adding the tour of the city was very nice of you to do. It gave us a chance to see more of your beautiful town. Sincerely, Dianna
Hello Frank, We just walked into our door about 1 hour ago from our trip. I'm in the process of wading through more than 100 emails, but thought I could send you a quick reply thanking you for contacting us and wishing us an enjoyable trip. We did have a wonderful and memorable trip and will keep your email address in our book just in case we decide to make another trip your way. Thank you so much for being such a great host on our tour. Your email travelling friends, Elli and Jim
Frank, I wanted to take a moment to thank you. We certainly enjoyed our stay and the points of interest you noted on the City Tour Kathy and I walked about once again with more time to enjoy. Tomatto (Luis) was excellent on the Copala Tour - please thank him on our behalf. We will certainly recommend your services to anyone heading to Mazatlan.
We returned to Long Beach today. After Mazatlan, we missed out on Cabo San Lucas because of the effects of Hurricane Javier. The captain changed course to avoid the storm. What a disappointment that was. We really had a great time with you in Mazatlan and will be posting favorable comments on boards. In the meantime, could you briefly outline some of the places we went with some information of the highlights of our tour? Many thanks, Muchisimas gracias, Bob & Santa
Hello Frank. Susan and I wanted to thank you for a very informative city tour on 12 November. The fact that your other party had to cancel was fortunate for us since it gave us a private tour. The tour helped to convince me that Mazatlan is the place that I will retire to in the future. Thanks again. Regards. Jacqueline
Frank: Just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the wonderful tour of Matzatlan and the surrounding area. We not only enjoyed spending the day with you and seeing some beautiful sights, but we learned many things about Mexico and her people. Thursday, Dec 9th my wife walked Puerto Vallarta with my other family members while I stayed on ship and caught up on some reading. When she returned I asked if she enjoyed herself. Her reply was "yes, but I sure missed Frank"! FELIZ NAVIDAD David
Hi Frank! We wanted you to know how much we enjoyed your tour of beautiful Mazatlan. We especially liked where you to us to shop (nice personal service) and seeing the refurbushed opera house. We also enjoyed our lunch stop. The food, scenery, and company were very nice. I will make a good comment of your tour on the Cruise Critic message board. We would love to visit Mazatlan again. We have your website. Happy Holiday Season, Jo-Ann & Marty
Hola Frank! I just want to say 'thank you' for the wonderful tour you gave us. You really spoiled us for any other tour guide. We took a 'tour' in Alcapulco and it was terrible! If I ever get down your way again, I will be sure to look you up. In the meantime, I will reccommend you to anyone who asks. Muchos gracias! Linda
Hi Frank, Just a note to thank you again for a great day in Mazatlan/Copola. We all enjoyed our time with you. We will certainly pass on your name to others taking the same cruise. We enjoyed the rest of our cruise very much. Except it went too fast! Enjoy the carnival time in Mazatlan! Eileen & Al
I just got off the Diamond Princess on 3/26 and we took the city and beach tour with Frank. I highly recommend it. He knows so much about the area and the people. We had a great time! Alex
We just returned from our Mexican Riviera cruise aboard the Diamond Princess (3/12-3/19). After reading so many wonderful things about Frank, I contacted him in February to see if he was available to take us on a tour on March 16. He responded immediately to my emails. He had already scheduled a family of five and checked with them to see if they minded sharing the tour with the four of us. Frank is great!!!! He made the tour very enjoyable. We took the Colonial and City Tour. Frank took us to a brickyard where you will see bricks being made by hand, another stop is where furniture is being custom made by hand. We also stopped to see a man who was making tiles by hand and we had the opportunity to purchase a couple to bring home, which we will use for trivets or hot plates. He stops at a bakery where you are able to purchase wonderful fresh pastries just coming out of the oven. We also stopped at a great restaurant for lunch right on the ocean. We stopped in the Golden Zone where you can do a bit of shopping. Because he takes you in an air-conditioned van, he is able to bring you to the top of a hill that overlooks all of Mazatlan. When we were at the top of the hill we were able to see the Diamond Princess across the water, the view was amazing. The tour buses are not able to go to the top of the hill. We stopped to see the divers and we also had a tour of Old Mazatlan. I would highly recommend Frank. He picks you up at 8:00 am and has you back at the ship terminal at 3:00 pm. Our ship left the dock at 5:00 pm so we even had time to shop at the stalls just outside of the ship for last minute souvenirs. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Frank made Mazatlan one of the highlights of our cruise and for this we thank him.
Hi Frank Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know we absolutely enjoyed our tour with you to Copala on Jan 28/05. My broken tiles that I got at the tile "factory" in Malpeca all made it home safe and sound along with the rest of my shopping. The burro ride in Copala with the kids was the #1 thing I did on vacation in Mazatlan. You made our tour and we would seek you out again! Thanks Christine & John Hamilton, Ontario, Canada
Mr. Larry Bleiberg Travel Editor Dallas Morning News Larry, My wife and I have been cruising at least twice a year for the past twenty years and during that time have had occasion to take many many tours off cruise ships. However, last week we had the great fortune to engage the services of the best guide we have ever had. This was in Mazatlan and the guide's name is Frank-Thiel Armenta. I had heard of his service through a letter to the Travel section of the Dallas Morning News and contacted him by e-mail prior to cruise departure. He was waiting for us at the port terminal on time. We had toured Mazatlan a few years earlier and really were not expecting too much this time, but we were very pleasantly surprised at the sights we had missed on an earlier tour of the city. We saw sights that no bus tour would ever see and the depth of explanation of each place from Frank was as eye opening as anyone could ever anticipate. My wife and I heartily endorse Frank and promise that no one will ever be disappointed by using his services. I think you will be doing your readers a great service for anyone planning a trip to Mazatlan by letting them know about this outstanding person. Frank can be contacted at www.mazatlan-frank.com, home telephone (669) 980-0457 or cell at 044(669) 117-0604., email at fkole2000@hotmail.com Sincerely, Joe G. Moseley
| Frank: I'm glad that everything came through fine. My family enjoyed the tour with Luis. Of all the ports, we have visited, Mazatlan is the favorite port for each of us. That is 11 vote. In fact, ending up in the trolley is better, there was a slight breeze on our day there, and it's rather comfortable while the trolley is moving. Everyone agreed that they are happier in the trolley over the air-conditioning van. It is a pleasure meeting you and thanks for sharing the insights of your beautiful city with us during our stay. I've told all my coworkers that if they take a cruise to Mexican Riviera, they MUST take this city tour with either you or Luis. You guys are great! Till the next time, take care and best wishes. | Frank is the best! We just returned from the Disney Magic and visited Frank on Wednesday. I really enjoyed his work. He gave us a lot of neat information (with a great sense of humor) and took us to some beautiful sights. We went upon the mountain to view the land along with the beautiful Disney Magic in port. We saw the old city, Golden Zone, market, and cathedral. Three other families gave up the air conditioned van so that I could go (not enough room in the van with adding me), but the trolley was nice. We always got a nice breeze! I kept telling Frank that he had 8-40 air conditioning (8 window openings at 40 miles per hour!!). I wouldn't hesitate to take the trolley again as I think the openess let us experience more! Well done amigo! Jenny |
I would just like to second all these good comments about Frank. He is one of the best tour guides we have been with. Everytime we go to Mazatlan, we go with him. He also has a very nice family. Louis Fourier
Frank, I just want to take a moment and tell you what a wonderful time I had on your tour. You had already booked a private tour that day so Tomatto took us on the City/Beach tour in one of your open air trolley's on Wednesday Oct 26th. We all had a fantastic time, very sorry I did not have the pleasure of meeting you in person. Tomatto was very knowledgeable and funny too! Our favorite part of the day was when we went to Tony's restaurant. After Tony's we were scheduled to go to the Golden Zone however myself and the 3 others that I was with wanted to stay at Tony's, no more shopping for us we just wanted to relax and have some margaritas and beers. Tony placed a table and 4 chairs for us by the water and served us our drinks. David our server was the best and we felt very welcome, like FAMILIA. You have wonderful connections and friends. Please let Tomatto know that WE say thank you very much. Some of the vendors thought Tomatto and my best friend were brother and sister, ha ha. Tell Tony and David Muchas Gracias for their hospitality. We will spread the word that YOU and your crew are the best because you are! Thank you again. Hasta La Vista Amigo. Sincerely, Roberta
I started this page so others that want to take tours with me, read your comments. If you would like me to put your comment on this page, please send an email and I will copy it and paste it here. Also let me know if I can write down your email and name. I hope to fill it up!
Hi Frank, Wow, nice website. It makes me want to come back and do the whole trip all over again. Your day of touring was the highlight of our week and we have shared about it with our friends. I have some photos that I will email to you but I am at work now and they are at home. Good luck. Linda Minn.
Hola, Frank! We had a fantastic tour with you and everyone on the tour had glowing compliments about your service. The trolley was a good alternative. So glad we hit the weather just right. I will send out a wonderful referral to the cruise critic boards and mention your services. Hope to visit again sometime. Thank you for all your help and a wonderful visit to Mazatlan. Phyllis
Hola Frank, Sorry it took so long to get back to you.Our group really enjoyed our day with you and we were happy it was you that took us around Mazatlan.Lunch was great at Tonys on the beach. We hope you and your family are well and if we are back that way again we will defitnely contact you but in the meantime we will tell others about you and how to contact you. Thanks again my new friend. John
Just want to let everyone know if they need a very good tour guide in Mazatlan look for Mazatlan Frank. Frank picked us up at the cruise ship in the morning and he provided excellent service. We have family members who's never been in Mazatlan, Frank is extremely knowledgeable and gave us a fabulous sightseeing tour. He catered our tour to what we wanted to see and was extremely flexible. We highly recommend Frank for any kind of tour in Mazatlan. Saludos Yvon Marier
Hi Frank... Just wanted to tell you we really enjoyed your tour and we had a wonderful cruise and a safe trip back home.. We will be certain to say how great you were for our reviews.. Take Care Marcia and Ray
Hola, I must thank you so much for your tour of Mazatlan when we were on the Diamond Princess Cruise Wed. 2/23. It was truly the highlight of our trip. We enjoyed it so much and we are still talking about it and showing pictures to our family and friends. Maybe we will meet again one day. We will recommend you to all. Hasta Luego, Shelly and Howie
Love your site!!! I will give your site to all MZT clients...I feel very good about selling MZT...the young spring breakers sort of spoiled the image for me...You helped to change all that. I will stay in touch with an email now and again. Blessings, Brandy and Family Washington State
Hola Frank, Sorry it took so long to send this thank you.My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour.We espcially appreciated the insights that you gave us about Mazatlan. You don't get this on most other tours. If in the future if anyone needs a recommendation for a tour of Mazatlan,we will not hesitate to recommend Mazatlan Frank. Again Amigo, gracias. We hope to someday be able to do this again. Larry and Ruth
Hi. Frank. We're back from our cruise, and I just wanted to thank you one more time for our tour last week. We both loved it, and will definitely recommend it. Once again, thank you, and we will contact you should we be in Mazatlan again. Cynthia
When our Disney cruise stopped in Mazatlan, our family did an all day tour with Mazatlan Frank and it was absolutely fantastic. Our tour consisted of the Colonial tour and the City tour. Between the 2 tours we stopped for lunch at a great beach restaurant.. Because there were 9 of us (5 adults & 4 children), the tour has more of a family sightseeing trip feeling instead of a ridged bus load tour. We felt like we were visiting an old friend who was showing us around and providing insights that no inflexible bus tour could ever provide. We were never rushed at any of the many stops and there was never an unanswered question. Frank’s extensive knowledge, insight and pleasant demeanor made this the best tour we’ve ever taken. When we return to Mazatlan, no matter what else we might do, we would absolutely make sure we took one of Frank’s tours. His web page www.mazatlan-frank. com has a good list and explanation of all his tours and I know he never tires of answering questions. (His email is fkole2000@hotmail.com). Because he is so good and has such a great reputation, don’t wait till the last minute to book his tours, they fill up fast.
Frank, Hope all is well. Heard the Pride went to Canada the week after our cruise. I hope the weather passed and was not a threat. Just wanted to drop you a quick note and thank you for taking us on a wonderful tour of Mazatlan. We enjoyed what we saw of the area and will probably come back again someday. The tour was great and both my wife and I enjoyed all the places that you took us to. We liked the history of the city and the information you provided us with. We liked the resort portion of the tour, especially the food, it was outstanding. I know you must have thought that we did not enjoy the resort all that much, but we did. The pools were a little too warm for our tastes so that was why we got out of them so early. Again your tour was great and I hope we can do another one with you again someday. Thanks once again. Mike & Liz
We just got back last week from Mex Riv from Dawn from SF and it was great. We booked a tour with Frank for our short time in Maz, 1pm-7pm. When we got there, he met us and we had a tour for just the two of us since no one else had signed up and I found no one else on our Roll Call. We had done a city tour and Sierra Madre tour before and didn't need to do the same things. We did the city tour on way out of city, skipped the brickmaker, stopped and visited with tile maker which is amazing, the furniture factories. Stopped in Concordia to see the town square and church. Visited a large hacienda there of people Frank knows. Very nice. Then on to malecon and then to Old Maz. Very nice tour and we squeezed a lot in our short time. Frank had drinks for us and gave us far more value than the bus tours from the ship.
Just got back from the Diamond Princess, and booked a private tour for 6 with Frank. It more than exceeded our expectations. Considering what we got, the price seemed very fair. He took great care to make sure we saw what we wanted, although we left it mostly in his capable hands. We went to Concordia, the new part of town, the old part, a ritzy residential area and more. My kids of 8 and 13 were not bored. There is a lot of time in the van, but it is broken up with many stops to see really neat stuff. I can't imagine seeing more of Mazatlan in half a day. Thanks Frank!
We booked with Frank in Jan 07 and had a great day. You see more than with the ships tours, it's personal and he's a local who's willing to share his knowledge of the area with you. He's also very reliable and not expensive. What more could you want? He will cater the tour to the group. We hooked up with 2 other couples, through cruise critic, for a great day but you have to book in advance because he's comes highly recommended by fellow cruisers.
| Hola Frank! I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed your tour. It was the highlight of our whole trip. You really made us feel like we have an amigo in Mazatlan . We wish the best for you and your family and hope to come to your wonderful city again (although our next trip is probably going to be to Playa del Carmen, you ever get over to the other coast?). If you are ever near Sacramento , please drop me a line and I’ll buy you a drink or 2. I’m still thinking about the “chocolate milk” from Tony’s on the beach. Good Stuff. I’ll do my best to turn on more business to you, and promote your services to anyone who will listen. Attached is the picture you took of us on icebox hill. | just wanted to tell everyone NOT to hesitate to book with Frank, my husband and I booked with him last March, was one of the best times we have ever had. By the time we booked, Frank was full, but put us with another group and one of his other drivers, "Tomato". He was fantastic, we also went into the mountains, the bakery is an experience not to be missed, bought some tiles, silver bracelet, EVERYTHING and everywhere we went was great, Tomato did a great job narrating, we just can't say enough good about Frank and all his employees. You just can't go wrong with booking a tour with Frank. We will definately do it again when we go back. Kathy |
We've done two tours with Frank and have booked with him again for our next trip to Mazatlan. He is GREAT. I can't say enough good things about him. He speaks perfect English and is willing to vary the tour to fit his clients. One of the places we went was to the Pacifico Brewery and we loved it! I really don't think you can go wrong with Frank. Mary
We have had two tours with Frank. Last year we actually had Tomato, a really fun guy that works for Frank and this year we had Frank. Both tours were great. These guys go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your tour. Well worth the money, you can't go wrong with Frank. He goes out of his way to accomodate you. Vie Lee
Hola Frank, Just want to write and let you know that my group of 23 people had a wonderful time in Mazatlan. Andres was a great guide!! He did a wonderful job showing us around in Mazatlan. He gave us great recommendations for the restaurant which we really appreciated. The trolley was really fun to ride on. It really makes taking pictures easy. Thanks so much for this great recommendation! Our driver, Ernesto, was great as well. He was really good at driving the big trolley in mall streets. I will definitely recommend you and Andres to my friends and clients. Thanks again! Angie. Nov 23 2007
Hi Frank! HAPPY NEW YEAR. Thanks for the wonderful tour you gave us! We really appreciate your very thoughtful and in-depth tour. It was really interesting to get acquainted with the Mazatlan’s old & new. You made both of us LOVE Mazatlan most…among the places we docked at. We certainly hope to be back someday…you have a great Yr 2009! Cheers. Warmest regards all the way from SINGAPORE, Rachel & Bryan p/s: Feel free to put our comment at your website.
Our family took a private city tour with Mazatlan Frank, there were six of us in our tour and Frank took us to places we wouldn't normally be able to see if we booked with the Cruiseline. Our city tour took us to Tony's on the Beach and was everything wonderful that we read about online. The food was amazing, and the service was incredible, my husband loved the waiter's Tony's on the Beach shirt that the waiter ended up giving it to him. The cliff divers were a sight to see, as well as the churches. As Frank said to my husband, you want to go to a 7-11 I wil take you there, whatever you want I will take you there. Thank you Frank, if ever we are in Mazatlan again we will look you up, and if you every make it to Calgary you look us up. Jeff & Linda Sept 16, 2009

Hi Frank, Just wanted to thank you again for a great tour of Mazatlan this morning. We really enjoyed it and will certainly plan to spend a week when we can arrange it! The seven of us who had lunch at Tony's really enjoyed that, too....excellent food, beautiful views and a fun ride back to the ships with a new experience in the back of a pick-up! Very much fun! See you when we can get back again. Pam & Jack Jan 6, 2010 Mariner of the Seas
Frank, Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our tour on Jan. 14th with Rene'. He was a great and knowledgeable guide. Our whole group was very happy with our relaxing time that day. Rene' didn't "push" us to do things in a hurry, he let us tell him when we were ready to go on to the next site. Stone Island was so beautiful. We had so much fun playing in the ocean that day!! It seemed like it was just us, and a big beautiful ocean!! The food was great, also. I will recommed your company and Rene' every chance I get. Also, I am so sorry for the loss of your friend, Tomatto. If he was as nice as you and Rene', I understand your loss. My deepest sympathies go out to you all and his family. Sincerely, Cathy (& the other 7!) Carnival Splendor Jan 14, 2010

The rest of our cruise was very good. Rudy did a wonderful job for us in Acapulco and "El Oso" did the same in Puerto Vallarta.
